Can't play ISOs with DVDPlayer

Every time I'd try to play an ISO, XBMC would freeze on the screen showing the ISO, and I'd have to restart the XBox.
The ISOs play fine on my computer. I am streaming them from my computer over my home network.
I was able to workaround and view the DVD ISO movies via XBMC perfectly fine using MPlayer (using the white button, then selecting MPlayer as my player). But the default DVDPlayer won't work, and it doesn't appear that MPlayer can be set as the default player (correct?)
Where do I start the troubleshooting process to fix this issue?
