How do I plan a circle route on UA/Star Alliance?

January 7th, 2009 by mike
I'm new here and am trying to figure out how to maximize Aeroplan miles on a trip from YYZ to SAN. On the Air Canada board, someone suggested a circle route on UA could include 15 segments. Can anyone tell me how to plan a circle route and where to find the rules? I'll likely begin YYZ-ORD-DEN or YYZ-DFW-SEA.
Any other suggestions on how to get the most segments (and miles) out of this trip? I have the weekend to get to SAN and an evening and a day mid-week to get back to YYZ.
Can I book AC and UA segments on a single ticket?
Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
Bob
