We live in a townhome with a small, say, 8 x 8 patch of land for our back yard. My wife has tried several different "looks" for that spot o' land over the seven years we have lived here. Over the past several months, it has, basically, been ignored, and has grown into an unkempt tangle of brown weeds. To further exasperate the situation, we recently adopted a puppuy, and have been allowing her to go outside, there, and mostly urinate. I would like to get that area in order before the winter is fully upon us, but something in the back of my mind (and the pit of my stomach) is keeping me from touching all that, pardon my slightly graphic verbage, pee-stained grass. What would be the bestway to, maybe, "pre-treat" all that overgrowth beforehand. Should I just run a sprinkler over the area for several hours? Should I apply some sort of Killz-like solution to raze the growth? Should I get one of those blow-torch thingies people sometimes use to get at weeds in the cracks of their driveways and sidwalks? What my wife would ultimately like to do afterwards is get the ground completely back to just dirt, and do some sort of tile / brick / paver treatment to it. How should I proceed once Iâ ™ve been able to trim back the overgrowth. At that point, there will just be a bunch of stubbly weeds stumps sticking out of the ground. Again, do I pour some sort of solution to get the weeds to die? Do I â ˜roto-tillâ ™ it? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I am such a total newb when it comes to this whole aspect of life. I am trying to do it on the hush-hush and trying to surprise my wife by doing it myself. I know she will appreciate the consideration. Any help you could provide would be severely appreciated. Thank you.try adding plants for prettyness
and some chairs and a table to MAKE it look open and spaceish
maybe even fence in ur yard
be creative
:]
Kudos if u answer this or any other of my questions
http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...Since the patch of land is so small but, your puppy still needs a place to go.... Try getting a pee-pee magnet.. You can find them at PETSMART or other pet supply store.. .They come in all sorts of shapes and themes but, they have pee-pee pheremones in them so the puppy will be attracted and pee only in that spot! Thus saving a majority of you grass... Since it's almost winter you can try to "winterize" you lawn with an aggressive fertilizer like SCOTTS brand... OR you can simply start anew and till up the lawn and get some fresh sod... Or you can get some nice odd shapped pavers/bricks and make more of a patio set-up.. You would have to roto-tiller up the grass and lay pavers.. It's a small area so it shouldn't take too long...
Go to you nearest garden center.. (bring a picture) of your yard and maybe they can suggest something for your space...
Good luck8'x8'? Wow that's little. I would concrete over it and park my bike there. That way your problem is solved, your wife is surprised, and you get a new motorcycle.
its a win/win situation.well, to get rid of the "pee-stained" grass i'd use a hose, sprinkle it for a couple hours, the sulfur in the urine (which is the responsible for causing the bad smell) washes away quite easily with water, and should take the smell with it.Perhaps a unit of measurement would be helpful. 8X8 what? Inches? Feet? Yards? Meters?
And I don't have a good answer for this. Just stating that it could help out other answers. If the weeds are still alive, spray them now with Killz or Roundup. In a week or two when they are very dead, get a weed whacker or hand scythe and cut them down. Wear gloves when you rake them up and put them in the trash. It sounds like a small enough area that you could probably just pull everything up by hand - wearing the gloves. You might need a hoe or shovel to completely remove all the vegetation. Then you can rake it smooth and cover with gravel or paving stones. This just requires a little elbow grease.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
