Where do women like to be approached?

whether in a bar, grocery store, church or at a community function, i can't stand it when guys are cocky and act like i should be pleasured by his company. however, when guys are too intimidated or shy, it turns me off as well. cliches and pick-up lines are a no-no in my book.
honestly, i like a guy who seems genuinely interested in me or what i'm doing. if i'm at the grocery store and looking at a magazine, spark up the conversation about what i'm looking at. ask me a question. even if it's something you already know the answer to.
and most importantly, just be yourself. most people can see through others being fake and even if they can't, they'll find out later.
